| Under the Clean India Pilot Project, all issues regarding the heritage site are taken care of including providing drinking water facilities, renovation of toilets, proper signages in and around the premises, placing of garbage bins, maintenance of parking lots at Qutab Minar, conversion of Qutab Minar Complex into friendly zone for physically challenged persons, various repair/replacement work, 24 X 7 management and garbage clearance, tourist help desks and deployment of volunteers for better management amongst others. Clean India Campaign has been initiated by the Ministry of Tourism with the objective to increase tourist arrivals to the country and to improve quality of services and provide a hygienic environment in and around tourist destinations across the country in sync with the 12th Five Year Plan of the Government of India. In the first phase of the campaign, 36 such monuments have been identified by the Ministry of Tourism and Archaeological Survey of India (ASI). Clean India Campaign is a multi pronged action and comprehensive strategy to ensure an acceptable level of cleanliness and hygiene practices at tourist destinations for an inclusive and sustainable development of tourism through ownership and involvement of private and public sector stakeholders. This initiative aims to create a collective mindset that promotes cleanliness and hygiene by a balance of persuasion, education, sensitization, training, demonstration, regulation and involvement of every individual. India Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC), the public sector undertaking under the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India was entrusted with the partnership of the Pilot Project of the prestigious campaign at Qutab Minar. ITDC has been networking with various stakeholders including Municipal Corporation of Delhi, ASI, Delhi Jal Board , Delhi Development Authority, Traffic Department and the Shop Owners and Trade Association around the Qutab Complex to make the project a success. |

| IAF Participates in Exercise ‘Shoorveer’ by SWC |
| The South Western Command, Army is conducting Exercise ‘Shoorveer’ in the desert sector of Rajasthan. The IAF is involved in the exercise with troops (EWT) in a big way with elements from WAC providing full spectrum of Air Support during the exercise. The offensive Air Support will involve all type of fighters including SU-30. Mi-35, attack helicopters would also be providing the Offensive Air Support to the ground troops. Counter Surface Force Operations are crucial to the overall success of the Land Operations. The Mi-17s including some elements from SWAC would be employed for the Special Heliborne Operations (SHBO). The Combat Support role will also see, the Airborne Assault Operations where a large contingent of paratroopers will be para dropped in the exercise area. The exercise would see the Surface Forces and the Air Force elements fighting together in close coordination with each other. This however, calls for a high degree of Control and Coordination which is achieved by adhering to laid down operating procedures and supported by complex communication networks. Both the Army and Air Force would field their Remotely Piloted Aircrafts (RPAs) in support of their missions. A significant amount of joint training has been carried out by the Army and Air Force prior to the exercise during the preparatory phase, both by day and by night. |
