election COMMISSION AND ITS PARTNERSHIP WITH OTHER COUNTRIES

  • A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on mutual cooperation in the field of election management has been signed by Dr. S.Y. Quraishi, Chief Election Commissioner of India and Mr. Neel Kantha Uprety, Chief Election Commissioner, Election Commission of Nepal, at Kathmandu, Nepal today.
  • The MoU between the two Commissions covers exchange of knowledge and experience in the fields of electoral process,
  • exchange of material and expertise, training of personnel, production and dissemination of materials, voting technology and voters’ education and awareness. The two Commissions will identify priority areas of cooperation in organizational and technical field of activities, programmes and projects.
  • There is already an active bilateral exchange between the two Election Commissions. Commission’s Officers, including technical experts on Electronic Voting Machine, have been visiting Nepal for providing assistance and demonstration since 2006.
  •   
    Election Commission of India has already signed Memorandum of Understanding
  • with United Nations and
  • the Electoral Management Bodies of Ivory Coast,
  • Mexico,
  • Bhutan,
  • Afghanistan,
  •  Brazil and Russia.
  • It is about to finalise MoUs with Mauritius, Egypt, Thailand and Indonesia.
